Description

Born in a small town in the south side of Haiti and immigrated to the United States in 1994, Jean-Michel Voltaire holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from New York Law School. In 2003, he joined the U.S. Department of Justice, as a Trial Attorney, through the Attorney General’s Honors Program. Mr. Voltaire defends the U. S. Government at both the trial and appellate levels, and handles a variety of cases, ranging from defending constitutional challenges to federal statutes to presenting the United States’s views in cases against foreign governments and diplomats. After the earthquake, Mr. Voltaire worked at the State Department on its Planning Working Group and various task forces on Haiti, advising USG policy-makers on Rule of Law issues and helping design the Federal Government’s Haiti Strategy. Mr. Voltaire founded Réunion Sportive d’Haiti to give back to his native land.
