SCHOOLS
Haiti is in dire need of schools. Often children have to walk miles to get to school, many of which struggle to provide fundamental resources for instruction. The result is widespread illiteracy and unpreparedness for participation in the global economy.
We worked with Foundation Digicel and Ecole Saint Dominique to build an elementary school in the village of Roche-Jabouin where the children used to walk dirt roads for 2 ½ hours to reach the nearest school. We plan to support this school and the students by collecting educational materials (backpacks, notebooks, books, and pens) and seeking financial support to help cover the tuition for 300 children. We also aspire to lead efforts to build schools in other areas of the country.
